Sara is a limnologist focusing on aquatic ecology and with a particular interest in the impact of changing resources on community-level interactions. She has been studying the microbial ecology of Arctic habitats since 2006. Currently, Sara is working on a project on the fungal ecology of supraglacial habitats on Svalbard. She thinks that the best thing about aquatic microbial ecology is the mix of different types of labwork that you get to do, such as microscopy, culturing and molecular/DNA-based work. An additional bonus if you work on microbes in polar habitats, you get to go to cool places to do your fieldwork!
